Step 1: Clean skin = better hold

Before any glue touches the hairline, I clean the skin with 70% isopropyl alcohol. This step matters because makeup, oil, skincare, and sweat will break down your hold fast. I focus on the hairline area where the lace will sit and let it fully dry.

I pull a small amount of hair out for baby hairs. Small. Not a whole bang section 😭

While the band is on, I don’t keep touching the lace. Let it set. Let it do what it needs to do.

Step 8: Hot comb it FLAT (middle part installs need this)

A middle part bussdown is all about that sleek top. I take my hot comb and press the roots flat, especially near the part line and crown. If the top is puffy, the install won’t look fresh—even if the lace is perfect.

For a traditional install (like sew-in vibes), the biggest secret is still the same: your foundation has to be flat. A raised braid pattern will show through a middle part style, especially in bright light.
